Fraud awareness & safety tips

Buying or selling a vehicle or permit involves large amounts of money. Please read these tips before you deal with anyone.

⚠ Beware of fraud
  • Never share your OTP, PIN or password with anyone. PermitBazaar never asks for it.
  • Do not pay any advance or token money before you see the vehicle and check its papers.
  • Be careful of prices that look too good to be true.

Buyers

  1. See the vehicle first. Never pay token, advance, "booking", "delivery" or "transport" money to someone you have not met and whose vehicle you have not inspected.
  2. Verify the papers. Check the RC, permit validity, insurance, fitness, tax, challans and loan/hypothecation status with the RTO or on the official Parivahan site. The name on the RC should match the seller.
  3. Be careful of very low prices. A price far below the market, or a seller in a hurry, is the most common sign of a scam.
  4. Meet in a safe public place and bring someone with you. Pay by bank transfer to the owner's own account, and take a written receipt. Avoid large cash payments.
  5. Transfer ownership properly. Complete the RTO transfer (Form 29/30) at the time of purchase.

Sellers

  1. Confirm payment has reached your bank account before handing over the vehicle or papers. Ignore screenshots and "payment pending" messages.
  2. Never pay to receive money. A buyer who asks you to scan a QR code, enter a UPI PIN or pay a "fee" to receive payment is a fraudster.
  3. Do not give away original papers or sign blank transfer forms.

Everyone

  1. Never share your OTP, PIN, password or card details with anyone, even if they say they are from PermitBazaar. We never ask for them.
  2. Keep chatting inside the app. Do not click unknown links or install apps sent by other users.
  3. Report suspicious listings or users using "Report this listing" on the vehicle page. Admins review reports.
  4. If you have been cheated, contact your bank immediately and report it on 1930 or at cybercrime.gov.in, and to your local police station.

PermitBazaar is a classifieds platform. It does not take part in transactions between buyers and sellers, so please verify everything yourself.
